The roll-out of next generation network infrastructure presents a not to miss opportunity for many companies within the telecoms sector, and might finally allow the industry to put itself back on an even keel again after years of uncertainty.
It appears that the BT Group may be reconsidering its 21st Century Network (21CN) core network technology deployment plans, and looks likely to add a controversial new Ethernet approach to its IP/MPLS strategy.
As the roll-out of next generation networks gets under way, the need to be able verify that the performance of the equipment deployed will obviously be a crucial aspect that needs to be addressed. Murray Coleman, European Marketing Manager for IP/Wireline business at Anritsu, is heading up his company’s involvement in 21CN, as well as other NGN projects that are underway elsewhere in Europe.
Another key partner in the 21CN project is JDSU. Andrew Paulley heads up the UK arm of the company’s Communications Test Division. The division (which became part of JDSU’s operations following its acquisition of Acterna) serves both tier one carriers, like BT, as well as tier two firms.
